A parliament member is fatally stabbed in Reykjavik, the usually peaceful capital of Iceland. Police officer Grimsson recalls seeing the suspect earlier that night at a pub in the city’s east end. The young man, who has no prior record and no memory of the murder, turns himself in. Yet, his fingerprints are on the murder weapon. Grimsson senses the young man’s innocence, seeing him as a victim rather than a perpetrator.
The day before the murder, Grimsson was called to a storage unit where a human skull had been found. The unit’s renter, a known drug user and anarchist, had recently committed suicide. Inside, Grimsson discovered books on black magic and hypnotism, a black mirror, black candles, and a makeshift altar.
Aron Beck, a dangerous sociopath and leader of the anarchist gang, is serving time in prison. When another brutal murder occurs and another unlikely suspect is apprehended, Grimsson begins to suspect Aron Beck is behind the madness. But how?
Time is running out, and another murder is brewing in the dark depths of an evil mind…
