Aslaug Jonsdottir
(b.1963) is an award-winning illustrator, writer, visual artist and graphic designer. Her illustrations have four times been selected for the IBBY Honor List: Children’s Verses (Krakkakvæði) with text by Bodvar Gudmundsson in 2004, The Story of the Blue Planet (Sagan af bláa hnettinum) with text by Andri Snaer Magnason in 2002, Monster Kitty (Skrímslakisi) in 2012 and Look! (Sjáðu!) in 2021. Along with author Andri Snaer Magnason she received the West-Nordic Children’s Book Prize in 2020 and the UKLA Award in 2014. She received The Icelandic Literary Prize 2017 in the category of children and young adult’s fiction for Monsters in Trouble (Skrímsli í vanda), along with co-authors Kalle Güettler og Rakel Helmsdal. She has been nominated for the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award for her work, as well as the Hans Christian Andersen Award and The Nordic Council Children and Young People’s Literature Prize. Her books have been published in numerous languages.
