(b.1970) is well-known to readers for her historical novels about working-class Icelandic women who must continually fight for their place in the world. She completed a Master’s degree in Folkloristics from the University of Iceland and in 2018 she received an Emerging Writer grant from the Icelandic Literature Center for her first novel. Her novel, Daughters, was nominated for the European Union Literature Prize 2021.
