Elisabet Jokulsdottir

(b.1958) is an outstanding literary author whose works have received several awards and recognition, most recently the Icelandic Literary Prize for Fiction 2020, for The Chill of the April Sun – A Story of Love, Madness, and Solace. She’s also a two-time recipient of the Women’s Literature Prize, in 2007 for Advice of the Locksmith, and in the 2014 category for No Dance by Ufsaklettur, which became a nominee for the Nordic Council Literature Prize in 2016. Jokulsdottir was also a candidate in the 2016 presidential election. She feels she has a handle on various styles, the absurdist as much as the realistic. She is nominated for the 2022 Nordic Council Literature Prize for The Chill of the April Sun.

“I say bravo for this book, didn’t put it down for a second. I’ve never read a book that deals so brazenly with sex.”
