Embla Bachmann
Embla Bachmann, born in 2006, is a young Icelandic author with a deep love of books and storytelling. A passionate reader from an early age, she quickly became captivated by the worlds and adventures found within stories. By the time she was eleven, she had set her sights on writing her own stories and poetry, inspired by her favorite books.
In 2018, she wrote the short story The Dog Without a Tail and the Hairless Cat. Her writing has since earned recognition multiple times, including awards for her poetry and short stories during her school years. In 2021, her poem Adventure Awaits Outside won Iceland’s national poetry competition, Ljóðaflóð.
Embla’s debut novel, Girls Off Limits!, was a finalist for the Icelandic Literary Prize 2023, a remarkable achievement that highlights her talent as an emerging voice in Icelandic literature.
In addition to her writing, Embla hosts her own literary radio program for children, where she shares her enthusiasm for books and storytelling with young listeners. She also works for the children’s news program on Icelandic television, connecting with her audience in yet another creative way.
