On Time and Water by Andri Snær Magnason is nominated for the 2021 Nordic Council Literature Prize!
The prize has been awarded since 1962 and its purpose is to promote interest in the literature and language of the neighbouring Nordic countries. It is awarded annually along with the other Nordic Council prizes for music, film, and the environment and children and young people’s literature. The winner is chosen by a committee of experts in Nordic literature from all of the Nordic nations. This year, works have been nominated from each of the Nordic languages, including Faroese, Greenlandic and Sámi.
The selection committee says: “Andri Snær Magnason’s work Um tímann og vatnið is about our Earth and the future of our children and our descendants. The book is written in a balanced and insightful manner, based on a deep understanding of the subject and a strong will to make the world a better place than it is today.”
