Olafur Gunnar Gudlaugsson has won the 2021 Icelandic Children’s Book Award for his novel Lightbringer, the first installment of The Last Warlock trilogy.
Four young people set out to investigate the mysterious death of their mentor. All possess magical gifts but have mastered their powers to varying degrees. They soon discover that nothing in their lives, the universe or the world as they know it is as it seems. Their ability to cope with their powers and learn to use them is put to the test as they contend with evil spirits who threaten the existence of all mankind.
Olafur has previously written a number of popular children’s books and plays, this is his first novel for older readers.
