Steindór writes across two registers with equal confidence: upmarket commercial fiction and crime. He has been nominated for the Icelandic Crime Fiction Award twice and for the Icelandic Audiobook Awards seven times. His books share a quality that is rare and valuable in international rights — they combine literary ambition with genuine, broad reader appeal. His existing fanbase in Iceland is one of the largest of any active Icelandic author, and his work has a strong capacity to travel.
