Writer and poet Gerdur Kristny has been honored with the National Broadcasting Service’s Writer’s Fund award for the year 2023. Known for her diverse and impactful contributions to literature, Gerdur has established herself as a prominent figure in both children’s and adult literature, adept in various literary forms including poetry and prose.

Gerður Kristny’s career spans several decades, during which she has consistently produced work that resonates with a wide audience. Her versatility as a writer is particularly notable and the chairman of the award committee particularly thanked Gerður for writing books for both children and adults. He described her poetry as finely crafted, telling a large story in a few words, and also pointed out that Gerdur has, over a long career, published books of all kinds, including novels, poetry, and non-fiction.
